Strong Aboriginal Health Expo

We were invited to attend the Strong Aboriginal Children's Health Expo at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on the 19th of April, 2017, to highlight burn hazards in the home for children and families. We provided education about identifying burn and fire risks in the home, prevention techniques and information about correct first aid - cool running water for 20 minutes.

Throughout the day Bethany and Jenny directly engaged over 320 people and provided vital burns prevention and first aid education.

FIRST AID QUICK GUIDE
In an emergency call 000
1. REMOVE

2. COOL
Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes - this will stop the burning process and also help ease the pain.
3. COVER
Cover the burn with a clean lint free cloth or if it is a large area, cover loosely with cling wrap to lessen the chance of infection.
4. SEEK
Seek medical advice if the burn is larger than a 20 cent piece or on the face, hands, feet or groin area.
