Mitcham Football Club raise $2500 for the Women's & Children's Burns Therapy Gymnasium

In 2014, the Julian Burton Burns Trust with the support of their corporate and community partners funded a $145,000 state-of-the-art Burns Therapy Gymnasium at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital in SA. This facility is vitally important to the long-term recovery and rehabilitation of kids suffering devastating and life-changing burn injury and the outcomes of the gymnasium for paediatric burns patients have been outstanding since its opening.

In 2017, the Julian Burton Burns Trust are looking to provide additional funding to the Women’s & Children’s Hospital for a Burns Therapy Gymnasium Research project which will document the outcomes of paediatric patients to assist with establishing best practice and patient care for paediatric burns patients.

A huge thank you to the Hawks Mitcham Football Club for their generous donation of $2,500 to the Burns Trust in support of this project.

In an emergency call 000
Remove any clothing and jewellery from the affected area to allow effective cooling of the burn.
Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes - this will stop the burning process and also help ease the pain.
Cover the burn with a clean lint free cloth or if it is a large area, cover loosely with cling wrap to lessen the chance of infection.
Seek medical advice if the burn is larger than a 20 cent piece or on the face, hands, feet or groin area.
