Trekking for the Trust

Bec (pictured centre) has set her own "Burns Trust Challenge" in 2016! During September and October she will attempt to climb one of the highest trekking peaks in Nepal (6,476m)- Mera Peak; total distance 125km.

Hoping for clear days, Bec hopes to see five of the six highest mountains on Earth (Cho Oyu 8201m, Lhotse 8516m, Everest 8848m, Makalu 8463m and Kangchenjunga 8586m). At the same time Bec is proud to support the Julian Burton Burns Trust and raise vital finds to reduce the incidence and impact of burn injury.

FIRST AID QUICK GUIDE
In an emergency call 000
1. REMOVE
Remove any clothing and jewellery from the affected area to allow effective cooling of the burn.
2. COOL
Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes - this will stop the burning process and also help ease the pain.
3. COVER
Cover the burn with a clean lint free cloth or if it is a large area, cover loosely with cling wrap to lessen the chance of infection.
4. SEEK
Seek medical advice if the burn is larger than a 20 cent piece or on the face, hands, feet or groin area.
