In 2015/16 we supported two local communities through disaster relief appeals, held two cocktail style fundraising events, the annual "Burn to the Bay" as well as raising funds through partner fundraising initiatives. Once again we are grateful for the support of all our community and corporate partners, enabling us to make a greater difference in reducing the incidence and impact of burn injury in the community.
Disaster Relief Appeals
This year in response to two major disasters, we were able to raise funds to support those affected by these events. In September 2015 we presented a $30,000 cheque to the RBWH Foundation to support the survivors of the Ravenshoe Cafe Explosion in Far North Queensland which claimed the lives of two people and left 18 with serious burn injuries. Our partners and supporters rallied to raise funds to support the burn survivors and their families in response to our Ravenshoe Appeal.
We also ran a Pinery Bushfires Appeal in response to the November 2015 fires which claimed the lives of two people and left five with serious burn injuries. $25,000 was raised by our partners Clarke Energy, Clipsal by Schneider Electric, Lions Club of Brighton and the SA Power Networks Employee Foundation. These funds were presented to the Royal Adelaide Hospital Burns Service in March 2016.
This year we held a number of fundraising events. Over 300 people attended our 10th Birthday Celebration in August 2015 and raised almost $40,000 to support our work in the burns community. We held a Cocktail Fundraiser in June 2016 which raised $25,000. Great Southern Rail and Holidays of Australia came on board as Platinum Presenting Partners offering a Major Raffle valued at over $15,000. The evening was also supported by Gold Sponsor Dressed for Sale, Silver Sponsor Alexander Symonds along with event partners Elderton Wines, Coopers, Novatech and Stokes Three.
200 participants in the 2015 "Burn to the Bay" also helped to raise $17,500 and engage our partners including Clarke Energy, NAB, Alexander Symonds, Clipsal by Schneider Electric, Voiteck, QBE, Jacquillard Minns, KeyInvest and AGL.
Community & Partner Fundraising
For the fifth year, Gas Works and Bosch teamed up to raise funds to support the Burns Trust through their $30 Winter Hot Water cash back scheme where $30 from every Bosch Highflow hot water system sold at the Gas Works stores was donated to the Burns Trust.
In 2015/16 the Australian Hotels Association (SA) committed $17,848 in funding to procure the eTapestry database solution specifically tailored for not-for-profits. This new system will enable fundraising growth, provide better supporter lifecycle management, more efficient internal processes and more sophisticated reporting. This program has helped us run many of our fundraising initiatives and events including the 2015 "Burn to the Bay" campaign, Ravenshoe Appeal, Annual Cocktail Fundraiser and much more.
The NAB continued to support the Rebound Burns Survivor Fund which relies on the fundraising efforts of the NAB retail branches in SA & NT. In 2015/16 we provided funding to two burn survivors to support them on their road to recovery post hospitalisation.
