The Greenwood/Kavanagh award is presented to an outstanding individual who has positively and significantly impacted on the work we do within the burns community. Previous recipents include innagural Board members.
This year we paid tribute to an exceptional man who, having been burnt in a work related house fire ten years ago, has worked tirelessly with us as a Burns Trust Volunteer Educator. Anton Violente was awarded the Greenwood Kavanagh Award in 2013 to acknowledge his outstanding commitment to educating children across South Australia in burns prevention and awareness through the Burns Trust's BurnSafe schools' program.
Anton suffered full thickness burns to most of his body in a workplace accident and shares his story to highlight the danger of mixing chemicals and flame and the possible outcomes from participating in risk taking behaviours. Anton has been a BurnSafe volunteer for the Burns Trust since 2009.
Our very special and valued volunteers contribute to the development and delivery of community programs from; driving patient vehicles, delivering education at community events, packing school bags and assisting with fundraising at our fundraising events.
