Jenny Newman - BurnSafe Education Officer

Jenny comes to the Burns Trust with an extensive working history including private enterprise, local, state and federal governments.  In the last few years Jenny has worked with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs supporting veterans and their families with regard their social health by running training and support programs and as a Project Officer for Waterfind Pty Ltd.

Jenny’s strong organisational background along with her presentation skills, enabled her to establish and run many programs, seminars and events across a number of roles.

Jenny’s range and depth of skills, as well as her passion for trying to make the world a better place – especially for children – makes her well suited to her new role as a Burnsafe Education Officer.

1. REMOVE
Remove any clothing and jewellery from the affected area to allow effective cooling of the burn.
2. COOL
Cool the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes - this will stop the burning process and also help ease the pain.
3. COVER
Cover the burn with a clean lint free cloth or if it is a large area, cover loosely with cling wrap to lessen the chance of infection.
4. SEEK
Seek medical advice if the burn is larger than a 20 cent piece or on the face, hands, feet or groin area.
